Service Description

This three-session course is intended to give teachers (including ECTs) a secure grounding in the principles and practice of subject leadership in primary schools, either as preparation for taking up this role, or as support for them once in role. The content of the course is applicable to leading core or foundation subjects. Sessions will run at Rockingham PDC between 13:30 and 16:00 on the following dates: Session 1: Wednesday, 14th October Session 2: Wednesday, 2nd December Session 3: Wednesday, 20th January. Attendance at all three sessions is essential as the content is carefully sequenced to support participants in developing, applying and reflecting on their practice across the year. The three sessions will broadly cover the following key strands of subject leadership, but there will be opportunities throughout for participants to share and address emerging ideas from their own contexts: Session 1 – Subject in the primary curriculum and the role of the subject leader. Session 2 – Leading subject monitoring and evaluation. Session 3 – Planning and managing change as a subject leader. The course will be led by April Taylor (RoSIS & Waverley Primary Academy) and Laura Robson (RoSIS & Bramley Sunnyside Junior). Cost: One place per school for those accessing the Core Offer to RoSIS, additional places charged at £30 per person £149 per person for others.
