The benefits of learning beyond the classroom have been widely recognised. Regular contact with nature and outdoor experiences provides wide ranging opportunities to enhance curriculum learning and support the children’s physical, mental and emotional well-being. In partnership with Alex Wirth from Anston Greenlands Primary School, we were delighted to continue our campaign of “Rewilding” which aims to make schools a better place for nature, by encouraging rewilding. There are three levels to the award: bronze; silver; and gold and this can be accessed by any school, for free and with very little effort! BRONZE: Allocate part of your outside space to be left alone for rewilding SILVER: As Above (Bigger Proportion) + Engage children (E.G. in an assembly) GOLD: As Above (Bigger Proportion) + Engage families (e.g. with a competition) More information is available via ForgeCPD and we’re encouraging more schools to get involved this year. If you’re a school from outside of Rotherham, please do get involved, this is not exclusive to Rotherham schools – we’re happy to support and encourage Rewilding Nationally!! Termly networks will take place online on: Monday, 10th November online from 16:00 – 17:00 Thursday, 5th March online from 16:00 – 17:00 Tuesday, 26th June at a school to be confirmed from 16:00 – 17:00 To maximise the positive impact that outdoor learning has upon children, RoSIS are delighted to be working in collaboration with the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (CLOtC) to bring together an exciting package of curriculum resources, support and CPD. Cost: Rewilding Networks are free for all schools, membership to the CLOtC is additional.
