Building on the success of events over the last two years, our 'Leading Thinking' Events, in partnership with RWM Doncaster, aim to bring leading educational thinkers to the region, giving educators the opportunity to reflect on their own thinking, their beliefs and their practice. The events also provide the opportunity for networking, discussion, and the sharing of best practice. In the autumn term we will be welcoming Professor Neil Mercer & Topsy Page to Rockingham. They will describe what is known from recent school-based research about how teachers can best use talk to help children participate effectively in their learning in the classroom, and so make good progress in literacy, maths and other subjects. They will explain why the development of young people’s spoken language skills is so important for their learning, cognitive development and their overall life chances, and will also describe effective strategies that teachers can use to develop those skills. Lunch is provided and the event will take place on Thursday, 7th November from 8:30 - 15:30 at Rockingham PDC. Costs: Schools purchasing the Core Offer to RoSIS have 1 place available at no cost, additional places are charged at £20 per delegate. For others, a delegate fee of £97 per person applies. The spring term event will coincide with the Early Years Festival and will take place on Friday, 20th March from 8:30 - 15:30 at Rockingham PDC. The summer term will have a focus on Assessment and/or SEND and will take place on Thursday, 25th June from 8:30 - 15:30 at Rockingham PDC. Costs for these events will be heavily subsidised for schools purchasing the Core Offer to RoSIS, and where possible, no additional cost will be incurred. For non-subscribing schools, costs will be confirmed.
