Ofsted has published changes to the way that it will inspect schools and the number of ‘evaluation areas’ has increased, with the previous ‘Quality of Education’ judgement now being replaced by 2 new distinct areas: ‘Curriculum and Teaching’ and ‘Achievement’. This course will focus specifically on the new ‘Curriculum and Teaching’ evaluation area, providing an overview of the revised focus and also exploring the role of the governing board in overseeing this area. Where possible, we will explore some of the outcomes from this evaluation area from early inspections under the new framework, and explore ways in which the governing board can maintain an overview of this area and some of the types of questions inspectors might ask members of the governing board during an inspection.
