Service Description

As a core subject, maths plays a vital role in developing pupils’ problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and confidence in applying knowledge to real-life situations. By attending these meetings, teachers can share best practices, explore new resources, and collaborate with colleagues to raise standards and inspire a love of maths in every classroom. Facilitated by Catherine Salvadori from RoSIS & Wisewood Primary School, these sessions will take place as follows: Autumn – this session is designed to support and inspire maths teaching. We’ll share the latest Ofsted updates, explore research-informed approaches to questioning, and give you the chance to observe a live lesson to see effective questioning strategies in action. A great opportunity to reflect, discuss, and take away practical ideas for your own classroom Thursday, 14th November at Albion House from 13:00 - 15:00, repeated on Thursday, 27th November at Rockingham PDC from 13:00 - 15:00. Additionally in the autumn term, on the morning of Thursday, 27th November, we are pleased to invite you to a session with Gareth Metcalfe. Gareth will build on the problem-solving strategies introduced previously, deepening our understanding of how to develop pupils’ reasoning and resilience in maths. Through practical examples and discussion, we’ll explore next steps for embedding these approaches in the classroom. Spring – focussing on adaptive teaching, structure of Teaching for Mastery, declarative procedural knowledge and oracy Thursday, 12th February at Rockingham PDC from 13:00 - 15:00, repeated on Thursday, 26th February at Albion House from 13:00 - 15:00 Summer – the network sessions in the summer term will once again be replaced with a full day Maths Conference.
