Facilitated by Andy Burt, Early Excellence and Vicki John-Lewis, South Yorkshire Maths Hub There are two sessions running and Maths Leaders will have opportunity to experience both. The South Yorkshire Maths Hub will facilitate a session which will give an insight into how young children develop early mathematical understanding, with a focus on number, counting, and effective use of mathematical talk and play. Colleagues will explore practical strategies, see examples of high-quality practice, and learn how small changes in daily interactions can make a big difference to children’s mathematical thinking. Early Excellence will deliver Mastering Maths Though Continuous Provision. The maths curriculum starts at the beginning of a child’s journey in school and as maths subject leaders, it is vital that you have a clear understanding of the core principles of Early Years and can articulate how these are translated into practice, the curriculum and assessment Strengthen your understanding of how children can master mathematical thinking through high-quality, challenging Continuous Provision through this practical workshop.
