Facilitated by Kathryn Hathaway, Rotherham Music Hub and Lizzy Battersby, Rawmarsh Nursery There are two sessions running and Music Leaders will have opportunity to experience both. Kathryn’s session will give an insight into the current climate in terms of music curriculum and how it fits within the early years framework. They will demonstrate the ‘why’ around early years and foundation stage music ideas and activities in response to the Ofsted focus of ‘Supporting Talk’, high quality interactions and adapting for children within SEND. Also covered will be the ‘how’ to deliver music with practical ideas and music making activities to try in your classes. Lizzy’s session is “The Power of Songs and Rhymes in the Early Years”. Participants will experience how songs and rhymes are far more than moments of fun—they are essential building blocks for early communication, language, and literacy. Aligned with the EYFS framework, singing, rhythm, and movement support children’s Listening, Attention and Understanding, Speaking, and Physical Development, helping establish strong foundations for future learning.
