Service Description

Returning to the RoSIS offer, with more of a focus on supporting the wellbeing of educational professionals in our schools, are a series of twilight sessions which will support using the arts more confidently to provide a broad and balanced curriculum. These twilights will inspire professionals to unlock the potential of the visual arts as a tool for learning right across the curriculum, whilst at the same time, provide an opportunity for staff to come together and practice skills which will support positive mental health and wellbeing. The Mental Health Foundation published a blog in 2019, "How arts can help improve your mental health | Mental Health Foundation". The blog talks about how “engaging in the arts, social activities and interaction within our communities can help with major challenges…” and how “it can help to boost confidence and make us feel more engaged and resilient.” These workshops are twofold; they will provide a range of tips and skills to support staff in the classroom; and they will be informal opportunities to take time to give yourself permission to be creative. We will use the Picture This! Launch Event, Friday 4th October, as an introduction to these sessions. The launch day provides a range of skills-based workshops to support the Picture This! initiative and we will take feedback from delegates to ensure that the following twilights are relevant to supporting the curriculum in schools. The twilight sessions will take place on: • Monday, 11th November • Tuesday, 11th February • Wednesday, 26th March • Thursday, 8th May • Tuesday, 8th July Workshops will take place at Rockingham Professional Development Centre with arrival (with refreshments provided) from 15:30. They will start at 16:00 and last for an hour with the space available until 18:00. Schools may wish to consider one or more of the twilight sessions as suitable for a whole staff meeting. Cost: • Included for those accessing the Core Offer. • £95 per person, per session for those wishing to purchase on a pay-as-you-go basis.
