Collaboration of Maths Leaders

Facilitated by Paul Beevor, Martin Finch & Vicki John-Lewis

Starts 3 OctRockingham Professional Development Centre

Service Description

RoSIS, in collaboration with South Yorkshire Maths Hub are inviting maths leaders to be part of an exciting collaboration. We are looking for leaders, who are keen to be part of a culture of learning together, to take part in a project to understand how to develop key leadership qualities when implementing change. The driver of this will be to evaluate current provision in mathematics and collaborate on how this can be built upon. Colleagues will come together to share a current picture of maths in their school(s) and their key priorities for the upcoming year(s). They will then have the opportunity to hear about the key messages from the Ofsted Subject report and what this could look like in practice. Based on school priorities, leaders will be grouped into triads to enable them to focus on similar areas for development. There will be processes whereby leaders are facilitated to share research findings and impact updates based on their priority. As part of the triad, schools will be supported to be reflective and supportive of one another through the lens of a Peer Review, whereby Martin will conduct a review of maths in one school from each triad with the other two colleagues present and then this model will be replicated in the other two schools as part of the triad team. At the end of the year colleagues will come back together to share impact and reflect on the process and any changes that could be made to scale up the project the following year. The collaboration will start on Thursday, 3rd October from 13:00 – 16:30 at Rockingham Professional Development Centre and will culminate in a reflection session on Thursday, 26th June from 13:00 – 16:30 at Rockingham Professional Development Centre. This opportunity is facilitated by: • Paul Beevor, Headteacher, Wath CE Primary School and Advocate Headteacher, South Yorkshire Maths Hub • Martin Finch, Director of Primary Education at Tapton School Academy Trust and Ofsted Inspector • Vicki John-Lewis, South Yorkshire Maths Hub Lead. The costs are fully funded via RoSIS and the South Yorkshire Maths Hub, therefore, no charge for attendance. The first collaboration is limited to 12 schools, up to 2 people per school.
