Botheredness afternoon Hywel Roberts

Starts 11 MarRockingham Professional Development Centre

Service Description

Hywel Roberts’ latest book, Botheredness®: Stories, stance and pedagogy is a funny, engaging and rapturous read that will inspire teachers to reclaim their professional imagination and reignite the excitement they felt when they entered the teaching profession. It’s about botheredness – a made-up word that everyone understands. We are delighted to be welcoming Hywel Roberts to Rockingham Professional Development Centre to share botheredness with schools from our region. This programme, consisting of four sessions, will launch on Tuesday, 11th March. He will share his own experiences, reflections and research and help to reinstate professional imaginations. Hywel sets out to help teachers enhance their understanding of what it means to lead learning and thinking, to stand beside children as well as in front of them, whilst developing their knowledge acquisition with compassion, warmth and optimism. The morning is designed for teachers, teaching assistants and school leaders and Hywel will inspire you to be bothered, to be real and deliberate and get children and young people on board with learning. The afternoon is specifically for Early Career Teachers or those who have qualified recently. Hywel won’t tell you what to do minute by minute, lesson by lesson, day by day. He will share planning ideas and will inspire you to be bothered. Day two will take place in a school with Hywel in classes. This session will be filmed for all course participants to observe. On Monday, 9th June from 16:00 – 18:00, all delegates will be invited to reflect from on observations from day two and share examples of botheredness in their classroom or school, the strategies they have used and the feedback from children & young people. The final date, Tuesday, 8th July from 9:00 – 15:00, will be a celebration of how those on the botheredness campaign have taken inspiration from Hywel and enhanced their practice and/or their curriculum. Costs: Schools fully subscribing to RoSIS can attend this programme at no further charge. Those purchasing the Core Offer to RoSIS will be charged £100 per delegate for the full programme and for others, a charge of £180 per delegate applies.
