What is Picture This!?
Rotherham's Picture This! Project is taken directly from and inspired by the National Gallery's country wide Take One Picture initiative. We are grateful to the National Gallery's Education Department who provided us support guidance and encouragement in launching our own localised version of their project in 2007.
Picture This! focuses on artwork and schools are invited to use it as an inspiration for cross-curricular work.
The challenge is to use the artwork imaginatively in classrooms as a stimulus for working creatively in areas such as literacy, art history, ICT music, dance and drama.
Schools are invited to send members of staff to the Launch Event where they will explore how arts and culture can be used to provide a broad and balanced curriculum. Those attending will be inspired to use this year’s focus to develop some exciting work with children and young people in schools.

Picture This! helps to inspire teachers to plan and teach creatively and each year we continue to be stunned by the wide range of high-quality work which is produced by our children and young people.
We are certain this year will be no different and look forward to an amazing exhibition in the summer of 2025 – the year that Rotherham becomes the first Children’s Capital of Culture.
Rotherham United will be celebrating its Centenary year in 2025, and, to support the celebrations, we have linked Picture This! with the theme of ‘1925.’
We will be studying artists, famous in the the 1920s, such as Kandinsky, Margaret McDonald McKintosh, Picasso, Georgia O’Keeffe and the fabulous Art Deco period.

On the launch day we will transport you back to the 1920’s and learn new skills in painting, collage, sculpture, tourist art and stain glass. The launch event is scheduled for Friday, 4th October and places can be booked via Picture This! Launch Event | Forge CPD.
